 | Composted Horse Manure Good gardeners will always prefer natural, well composted horse manure to artificial fertiliser for their vegetable plots and shrub areas. There is also nothing better to make the roses grow and is a must for organic gardeners. The midden we are currently taking from has been composting for 2 years and the resultant material is black and virtually odourless.
If you are planning a new grass or lawn area, turning this material into the soil beforehand will produce excellent results. We rotovated in about 3" of our horse manure before sowing the grass seed at either side of the new entrance to Champfleurie Estate and the benefit was there to see for a whole winter and well into the following summer, something that chemical fertiliser would not have achieved, especially with the flash flooding we have had from time to time. Sold in 25kg bags.
